Boring, perfect people!
November 23rd, 2010‘Tis the season for family dinners, family portraits and all things family! So, I interrupt our regular posts (Engagement portraits, Bridal portraits, etc.) to post something personal. I realize I don’t post much about my family and that maybe my clients would like to know more about the people who influence the person behind the lens (well, maybe not…but here goes!).
My Zoe is hands down the best dresser – she is so stylish and wears a tutu on any given Tuesday! She pairs her tutus with Converse tennies, leggings and lots of silly bands – its her style, we can’t change it! (Side note: in the photo below, Mommy dressed her so we would all match…what was I thinking?) This brings us to Zach, my camera man! He is so talented and creative that I just love to see what he’s going to do next! Its awesome having a partner that “gets” what you do and why pretty light and F stops motivate you! PS. From time to time, its not unusual to hear us argue about an angle, a hair light or a catch light…but that’s why I love him! In fact, during our family portrait session, I think I actually told him to not talk on my set…tee hee But really, I love that man!
So, we all know taking Family portraits can really stress out the most organized Mommy, the calmest Daddy and the “usually” laid back 4 year olds…I see it every day. Half way through the session though, we find our groove and everybody begins to relax and just enjoy each other…our results make all the fuss and hairspray (and candy bribes) worth it! I feel honored to capture those precious moments and they remind me why I love being a photographer!
Below is me and my family…I think they make me look good huh?! Oh, and just so you realize that Photographers are human too…enjoy the outtake…that would be Zach under the reflector bag, me hanging myself with my scarf and Zoe…well, NOT looking at the camera…see every family has their moments AND thank goodness, because otherwise we would all just be boring, perfect people. Next time you have a family portrait session insist on doing some “funny pictures”, and show off that real family of yours!
